Our first stop was the Babes for Boobs Charity Event at the El Rey Theatre benefiting Susan G. Komen breast cancer research and foundation support. We both have family members who have been affected by breast cancer, so it meant a lot to both of us to be their in support of others living with or affected by the dis-ease. While there, in our usual form, we met great people and made a couple of friends.
The following day we were invited to join Habitat for Humanity Los Angeles for an amazing #HollywoodBuild community event. Our team captain was a wise and patient former builder named Bob. Yes, Bob the builder showed me how to properly hammer a nail through layers of wood and construct a window frame. Having gone through a 2.5 year renovation project at my Detroit Condo completely reliant on contractors to do the heavy lifting, it felt empowering to build an entire wall with a team of amazing volunteers. We are so grateful for this experience!
Over the weekend we attended the Official Bodvár National Rosé Day Celebration, a fun event commemorating the creation of National Rosé Day by the Bodvár company. Will nor I are big drinkers, but this special occasion called for a celebratory toast of beautiful sparkling rosé with the family heir of the 170 year old company, CEO Bodvar Hafström. Hosted on the lawn at the Marina del Rey Hotel, we had a beautiful view of the yachts docked at the marina with warm sun rays creating an inviting ambience. It was certainly the relaxing and chill vibe we needed as a respite from the day-to-day startup grind.
In between events and business meetings, we also reconnected with friends and family. It’s important to us no matter where we go, that we always make time for those we love. Life is short and opportunities to genuinely connect are few and far between. We seek to seize these moments when we get the time and make the best of them.
This is how DāO does LA.
