We knew that our DāO Divine 7 product line launch would be a big deal, but who knew that our debut would come with major partnerships and events.
Reflecting on how far we’ve come this year, 7 months ago we were in the middle of our Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign calling, texting and emailing many of you to support our new business idea -- DāO, Nature's Inspired Hair Care for ALL People. A very simple concept packed with so much meaning. Over 200+ supported our cause and those early engagements meant so much to us as it gave us the foundation we needed to believe in our movement.
From the start we’ve wanted to create products that are plant-based with ingredients that are safe and non-toxic, inspire individuals to love themselves for who they are, and offer more approachable methods for wholeness and well-being. This journey to today has come with a few setbacks, but they can’t compare to the many opportunities that we’ve experienced and some still in the making.
Just to recount the gains,
What a great 7 months! And the full product line hasn’t even launched, yet.
However, in T-minus 7 days, on Saturday, August 11th, we’re going to be unveiling our full product line at the Detroit Natural Hair Expo. This is a huge annual event hosted at the Cobo Convention Center in Downtown Detroit. With thousands of attendees, and a DāO booth location facing the main stage, we anticipate having loads of exposure to a whole new community. There will be 40+ brands represented at the event including Mielle Organics, The Mane Choice and Uncle Funky’s Daughter. Needless to say, we’ll be in good company and we’re so excited about the opportunity to connect with people across the Midwest who have a passion for natural living. That’s what we’re all about!
But, the fun doesn’t stop there.
The following day, Sunday, August 12th, DāO will co-host a launch event at The Market @ Macy’s at the Twelve Oaks Mall in Metro Detroit. As many folks may know, I started my career in fashion and retail, so this feels like a full circle moment as we launch DāO at one of the world’s most well-known and respected retailers. This is a unique opportunity to work with other local brands to showcase our products on a major stage. A huge win for the #DaOMovement! We’re excited to be reaching folks in traditional retail spaces, who don’t know much about our mission or the great quality of our products.
For so long, brands in department stores have been criticized for being very one-dimensional catering to an audience that was largely affluent, caucasian, and living in the suburbs. However, the creation of The Market @ Macy’s is disrupting this old model and ushering in something new, fresh and completely out of the box.
We’re so grateful to be part of this new class of businesses that has strong roots in community, diversity and innovation. We are excited to be taking risks and trying new things knowing that they will be amazing and eventually accepted by the masses. This journey takes time and is certainly met with its challenges along the way. However, we embody our company values and will always find a way to Defy All Odds.
